This topic to ask anybody reliability specialist to calculate the reliability of individual equipment, how to?
formular: exp(-1/mtbf)t I try to calculate from this formular but the result very low. Panuphan B. Maintenance Information Manager PTT Aromatics and Refining Public Company Limited |

Hi Panuphan,
The equation that you give assumes an exponential distribution (constant failure rate). In general, the equation for the reliability will depend on the chosen distribution. If you do not want to assume the exponential distribution, then which distribution would you like to use (Weibull, lognormal, etc.)? If the calculated reliability is below your goal, then design changes may be required to increase the reliability. An on-line reference guide can be found at Life Data Analysis Reference. This reference presents information on multiple distributions and their statistical properties. I hope this helps. David |
