Any good reference, articles, white papers anybody can offer for restoring motors, pumps, turbines, generators, etc. after flooding? I'm in Cedar Rapids and a couple of our power plants 1st floor and basement levels were flooded. Thanks for your help.

If I remember correctly, they used salamanders (portable heaters) for Katrina in New Orleans. You may find some information if you look in that direction. Personally, on a much smaller or should I say exceedingly smaller scale (a 200HP pump motor was the largest) I have used a vacuum chamber. In this I found that if a motor was running when it got wet there is likely a carbon trace and had to be replaced or rewound. Do not put electronics in a vacuum chamber if it has capacitors, they may explode. Heck, I wish I had a picture of that frequency drive. Don’t forget to regrease everything, also my bad. And use a dryer when letting air back in the vacuum chamber. I hope this helps and I hope you can get your hands on at least a small vacuum chamber as this was quick and worked excellent. Moreover, good luck and keep us informed.
