Transpower’s report to cabinet on the Auckland blackout has confirmed that the lines failure was the result of poor maintenance, unrelated to policy issues around the security of Auckland’s supply.

The transmission provider also reviewed a number of options for ensuring there is no repeat of the power outage on 12 June.
