I was surprised I didn't find any discussion about TCU's maintenace. I have more than 20 TCUs in my plant, they very rarely fail.
However, I was curious if anyone has gone the extra mile to put their TCUs under a PM/PdM program. |

What is TCU? Turbine Control Unit?

Sorry, I was talking about temperature control units.

Is this an instrument or electrical control panel? Never heard of the term. So just curious.
It is an instrument in which water from the process at a certain temperature go in, this instrument will then increase or decrease the temperature to the desired temperature, in simple words , it is a heat exchanger.

Ayad you mean, a temperature sensor linked to a control valve and control unit?

Yes, check this out.

Iyad, your equipment looks bounded to some particular brand. Although I realize that many ways lead to Rome, it would be better to take out the failure mode of the common componets like pumps, shell and tube heatex, radiators and other familiar things that make-up this unit.
But if it seldom fails Steven van Els, CMRP |

It's an enclosed hx unit. I guess to reduce temp of porcess water by heat exchange with a cooler medium. Does it have a heater too to increase the temp or you pass on a hotter meium from outside? What is the medium, water, oil?
Where is it commonly used? |
The medium is water. The TCU doesn't have a heater. The water coming out of the TCU is used in the cooling rolls to reduce the temperature of the plactic sheet before it is formed.
