I have for the last two months been experiencing a problem with battery charge. Before taking Microlog to site I normally check battery status to ensure it is fully charged. But after using it for about an hour The Low battery charge indicator "BT" starts appearing alarming me to re-charge the battery pack. And within 30 more minutes the Microlog shuts off.I have got two battery packs and the story is the same for both. Can some one provide me with any possible cause for this problem?

Hi Mipawa,

Did you make "deep discharge", soon? If "deep discharge" can't help ask your SKF representative for assistance or visit SKF CoMo forum for help.

Best regards

Sveto,
Thanks for your input.
I have done deep discharging but still doesn't give me any good result. I suspect possibly my support Module is defective, that it is cheating by feeding the battery with charge that has "air pockets" such that the battery feels full while in reality it is not. Anyway I still wait to hear more from this forum.

Sounds like typical Mlog battery performance...

We've been using these data collectors for well over a decade...typical battery life is ~ 2 hours - depending on backlight usage...

If you see a full charge and it starts diminishing within three minutes, the battery is bad...you can watch the battery charge indicator decrease in the shop before going out to the field...

Have a few spares on hand, and date them so you can tell the new from the old...

We have the 65 and it is slightly different. The original batteries wouldn't hold a charge and we have a new design. I understand they have been changed again and we will be upgraded when the boxes are calibrated.

The newer batteries we have now will run 4 hours, which is what they are designed for. The instructions for the 65 say never to use the black discharge button on the charger, but to open the battery level display window and let the box run them down until shutoff. We had a problem with the batteries not charging fully in the box due to internal thermal overload. That is one reason why we couldn't get the 4 hours out of them.
