Is it just me, or is this board slow?

I was just wondering the same thing. Maybe all the new traffic from Reliability magazine.com

I think that maybe all the new registrations might be having an effect on performance - I thought the board was painfully slow yesterday, but today it seems OK, so maybe we should just be patient and see how things shake out over the next week or so.

I wrote to Terrence about this yesterday. I wrote:

Dear Tom,
I'm happy to see that someone will now be supporting the web site which is a
considerable amount of work. One think I notice is that it's very slow
today - much, much slower than oli's site in Finland although it was faster
during the wee hours of Sunday morning so I suspect there may need to be
some server/internet connection upgrading to be done. As I'm sure you are
aware, the old Reliability ABV site was extremely popular all around the
world so I think your site is soon to be much busier..

I support two lightly used bulletin boards for vibrotek and have been
investigating the possibility replacing their software. What you are using
seems to be a good choice.

He replied:

Duncan -

Thanks for your comments - we are upgrading the serve now - yes it is much
busier!

Please feel free to let me have any comments - good or bad!

Terrence O'Hanlon

We do need to just be patient as there's a lot of work for them to do.

Correct, but it´s Sweden, so it´s not that far away. Compare to http://www.vtab.se/PHP-NBoard/html/modules.php?name=Forums

It was OK last night late, but I'm finding it so slow this morning that it's unuseable. I told you guys this was going to happen. Maybe it will get better.

If it's just a matter of "upgrading" hardware, I think we could come up with some $$ to help out. The Rel-Mag board has been very valuable to me, if nothing more than to have a place to unwind. I don't think folks should have to pay a fee to come here, so perhaps "sponsorships" would help.

But it is slooooooowww......

Rusty

Hi:
These type of .phpBB, .phpUBB & phpNUKE scripts are generally slow even with 1mb connection. It's the script itself.
Im a member of several other boards that use this script and same thing over years...
...slow to react and sometimes you think the pc locked up, nope, it didn't, just have to be little more patient.

I agree it is too slow to look at it while taking a break. That is how I used the old board - as my coffee break time.

Mike,
Like you I used the old site as coffee break material. This one so far kind of limits what you can get through in the short amount of time we might have.

I agree that it is somewhat slow but I am also very confident Terrence is sensitive to the needs of those that contribute to this forum and will do all that is within his control to improve performance.

40 seconds.... just to log in. No offense to anyone, but there's just no way that I'm going to have the time to wait on this board.

Why was the old board so much faster? What would it take to get back to what we had? If it's just a matter of finding a good web hosting service and subscribing, I could probably sponsor that. I don't know anything about this stuff, though. Who's up on it?

Regards,

Rusty
