Hello All,
Hope everyone had a good week! I have a question for those of you who are using the SKF CMVA 65 microlog. We just attended an advanced Microlog course in Houston this past week for 2 days. The course tried to show us how to use it's advanced features to do phase measuremnets, and finding machine faults like balance, alignment, and resonance, soft foot, etc... Has anyone here used the "analyzer" and/or "tracking" mode in the microlog to achieve this? We are doing this using our SKF strobe light, (made by Monarch) which was designed for this purpose. Most of the time we cannot shut down the machine to find problems, so we use the strobe method... I have some questions concerning the set-up of the microlog in Analyzer mode, using the strobe..And also the positioning of the reflective tape mark, when taking the readings... Thanks, R. Let me throw this out there.
Have any of you ever gone to "applications" and used the "current analysis" feature? Should be cut and dried, but I'm not getting a valid condition ratio reading, so I can grade my rotor, and rotor bars...Thats a real handy tool if I can figure out how it works! We didn't spend any time on that in class. And not enough hands on with the applications of the others, for troubleshooting machine problems with phase readings...Sure is frustration...I'll keep plugging away until I figure it out. Thanks R. Yes, I was browsing the SKF site at work today and saw that equipment...I see the pigtail on it but I don't have access to the wiring for those connectors. I was hoping for some sort of magnetic probe like the accelerometer. With those it looks like I would have to open up the breaker panel to check it. Not good for me since I am not an electrician.

We have a fluxprobe "FLUX1" for external application that can be used with any FFT analyzer giving similar data as from a current clamp but can be used on hi voltage motors etc w/o connection to electrical circuits you just apply it on the motor outside with a magnet as requested. I may check into one of these models. I guess if I really had to or needed to get rotor bar frequencies, etc. I could open the panel and clamp around the wire.

I am very familiar with the SKF equipment. I have used it for several years. The phase analysis is a very powerful tool. I can talk you through the method if you will contact me.
(I currently use a CMVA 60, but the features are very similiar). ***Vibration analysis can inform you about the vibration, and the other info you gather from that, but phase shows you "HOW" the unit or machine is vibrating. This is a VERY POWERFUL TOOL - I strongly advise you to learn to use it to it's fullest potential. It has saved us greatly! Contact me at 770-967-5279 and leave a message if no answer. |
