We are currently trending vibration on hydrostatic bearings. These bearings are in a spindle driving a finish grinding wheel rotating at 8000 RPMs. My question, is there a more effective way to monitor these types of bearings?

By hydrostatic bearings, do you mean rolling element or sleeve/journal bearings?

I heard one more term ie hydrodynamic bearings.

Josh - these are a type of journal bearing - from engineering.com: Hydrostatic bearings are used when operating conditions require full film lubrication that cannot be developed hydrodynamically. The hydrostatically lubricated bearing is supplied with lubricant under pressure from an external source. Advantages of the hydrostatic bearing over bearings of other type are lower friction, higher load capacity, higher reliability, and longer life.
