I'm looking to get some vibration analysis/balancing training specifically focused on large steam turbine/generators. I have quite a bit of training/experience with balance-of-plant equipment but not turbine/generators.

Any suggestions or comments?

I attended an excellent course by Romadyn, which is Don Bently's new company. His agreement with GE is that he can't use his name to market the company, but he's got some really good former BN guys who do the training.

The website is www.romadyn.com.

You can check out www.hpcnet.com. They have some specific training, and I took their balancing course several years ago. At the time I took the course, they taught the GE methodology.

I also took the Bently Machinery Diagnostics course when they were still independent. I learned a great deal from that course.

I know several of the people at Romadyn, and I have a great amount of respect for them as well. Although I haven't taken a course from them, I expect it would be valuable.

Much of what is taught in the Vibration Institute's Rotor Dynamics and Balancing course is directly applicable to steam turbines. I have taken this course and benefitted from it.

Vendor Warning: I would also be glad to put together a customized course for you. My company's web site is www.madynamics.com. Balancing steam turbines is a significant part of our business. If you are interested, please email me at michaeltitone at aol period com.
