Hello all,
i am currently using a now antiquated Datapac 1500 for walk around data collection. It is a good instrument, the only downfall is the lack of memory. Soon Rockwell will not be able to support the Datapacs due to running out of parts. I am looking to upgrade to the Enpac 2500, before doing so I would like some opinions on the reliablity of the unit. I have heard some bad things and some good. Please be honest in your opinions. The units are not cheap, dont want to be stuck with an overpriced unit that will not perform to my standards. Thanks Jim |

Hi Jim
I have been using 2 2500's now for about 2 years. I throw it up on a pedistal, bump it and generally am quiet abusive to it. I have had no problems. The memory that comes with it I can load every route of mine in it and still have room.It has a built in laser tac that I use quiet a lot getting speeds. I load and unload through the USB port its very fast I went Hope this helps |

Mike,
Thanks for the response. Have you had any issues with the firmware, i.e. locking up, loss of data, communication problems? |

I have had to do a reset a time or 2 but no data lost ever

Ours has performed flawlessly so far - much better than the Enpac 1200! Easier to see, and less weight to carry around. I don't think it's quite the "in the field" analysis device as a 1500, but it's a much better data collector.
Be aware that your filters may change considerably. I think they was a previous post on the differences. |
