Hi Gents
People who are using Adre408. Iam just asking if we can import data from old Adre208. I have been told that we cant by the vendor during the ADRE408 course, but yesterday I was going through the Help index page for 408 and found an icon telling (Import a 208 reference set) What does this mean?? Please advice>>> MB |

I am assuming you are talking about reference data that has been saved with Adre for Windows (208 software). Typically this data is resident in a folder named ADREWIN\REFDAT.
You can import 208 Reference Data without any issues. Simply open the Sxp database and expand the tree and right click "Reference data". One of the choices is "import 208 reference data." John from PA |

Thanks mr John
Really its value information fo me. But one more question. Is this data will show channels configuration. and transducer type extra... Let us say Iam taking a folder by machine tag number (K1710) cointaning readings taken by 208Adre. How the data will show and appear.. thanks for your cooporation MB |

When you open a 208 datebase with the Sxp software it will prompt that it needs to be converted. The original 208 database will be unchanged so you can always go back to that. Things like channel names, etc. will all come across. If you previosuly compensated the data with Adre for Windows, it will still be compensated.
The only issue is the hardware arrangement will not likely match the hardware arrangement of the 408 so if you just pulled in a 208 configuration and tried to use it as a valid 408 configuration you would not be able to do so. Typically the keyphasor card will come up as being in the incorrect slot of the 408. Feel free to experiment, make a "testAFW" database and play around. That will be the best way you will learn. Thanks again John
So it meaning that we only can view the plots taken by adre208. Because normaly each database have 4 files (Data-Notes-ADBfile and ConfigDBfile) Any how still I didnt test it, waiting fot the ADRE to come, but I have the softwareSxp without any realy data taken. regards MB |

Not the case. First of all with the 208 software (I'll call it AFW for Adre for Windows) before entering Store Enable you have to preconfigure the plots you might want to look at during Store Enable (you always have a Tabular Listing available while in Store Enable, even if you do nothing). Once you have the AFW database you can then configure numerous plots if the data acquired supports the plot format. In other words prior to entering Store Enable say you configure a Bode plot on channel 1 & 2. After you are done taking data you want to look at the same data in a Polar format. Polar plots can then be configured in the AFW database. Now, I had stated "if the data acquired supports the plot format"...by that I mean you have the key essentials to collect a Bode and Polar plot, i. e., a properly configured and working Keyphasor. After you import the AFW database into Sxp you can still configure additional plots, again with the limitation that the data originally collected supports all the elements needed for the plot format. With the 408, you can add plots etc. "on the fly" while acquiring data. Some thought needs to be used up front when configuring the channels. If for instance you configure a channel for 5 mils full scale, and you over range by hitting 8 mils, then that data will not be available. If you have purchased the Digital Replay Card however the digitized data is also saved in "Raw" format and you could replay the data (as if it was stored on a tape recorder) with 10 mils full scale.
