Hi...
I would like to ask some phenomenon in the spectrum.I have problem to determine the high vibration on the our Pump(Clay teater Pump in our plant).DE Pump horizontal have 9.4mm/s rms and dominated frequency at 1xrpm.Vertical DE pump only 2 mm/s rms.NDE Horizontal pump have 7.4 mm/s rms.Vertical DE only 1.3 mm/s rms.I also has take the phase data a cross coupling vertical, horizontal and axial direction.Phase data shown that was in phase. Also phase data at vertical VS horizontal at pump have high phase(about 170 degrees). So...what is the problem with this unit? May anybody help me please. Thk's Umbro Umbar |

Umbro,
Assuming all that happens at 1x: 1. check for shaft misalignment 2. check for resonance in horizontal direction If possible post vibration plots. David |

It sounds like imbalance of the impeller. You have different stiffness in V and H directions which could be normal.

It seams quite uncommon to have high horaizontal vibration compared to vertical. You have not mentioned about the mounting and location of the pump. However you can check for the stiffness of the pump assembly in the horaizontal direction. We like to have a look at the spectrum & TWF for both Horaizontal and vertical direction.

Pl. submit spectrum as well as time waveform. Are there harmonics of 1x also there? Diffence of 5 times in amplitude between two directions may be a symptom of resonance. Go for bump test of the machine. Phase change of 170 degree between horizontal to vertical may be due to parallel misalignment.
