Hi every body.....
Small diesel engine genrators (8 MW each) are connected directly to 13.8KV busbar and a tie breaker (NO) is located between them.
Both generators are working properly when the tie breaker is open. But when the tie breaker colsed , Both generators tripped by circulating currents.

Is this a new installation or a new phenomenon with an old installation that had previously synched properly?

Try checking for any difference in the generator terminal voltages, frequencies or phase angles. Normally, this is taken care of by the synchronizing relay. So better test the relay for its proper functionality.

Does the problem occur when a particular genertor is being brought online? If so, the excitation response droop of that generator needs adjustment.

iS IT SOMETHING TO DO WITH DROOP MODE OR ISOCHRONOUS MODE RUNNING OF THE GENERATORS?
