We have several hundred tons of storage of fly ash from the boiler which is filled in bags. Over the passage of time, ash has absorbed moisture and rainwater and its weight has increasd to about 150%.
We want to transport this ash now, but the costs are too high with this weight. Can you suggest some innovative ways how moisture can be dried out? )(We cannot spread out the ash in open sunlight due to environmental hazards.

Crazy Ideas,

1) Place ash bags in centrifuge and spin water out

2) Place bags in container with a dessicant to absorb water, then heat dessicant to remove water

3) Recycle wet ash on-site by mixing with cement to create a building material of higher value suitable for sale

Hullo Asad,

Fly ash can be an interesting raw material for cement manufacture. Talk to a cement mill and see if they will take the problem off your hands!

Thanks for the suggestions. Would it matter if the Cement Mill is working on WET process or DRY Process?

Hullo Asad,

I dont know the answer to that. Fly ash cement is a high grade product, so the Mill may be happy to take the wet ash even if they use a dry process. But I really am guessing, so you are better off asking the Cement Mill directly. Sorry.
