I believe SKF's CMVA55, 60 and 65 all have a "Cyclic Analysis" wizard application in the data collector for engine and compressors. Don't remember the specifics, but perhaps SKF can fill you in.

UPDATE:

We recently had a Dynalco rep visit and give us a demo of the RECIP trap. It was failrly impressive. There are some issue with "crosstalk" where signals from one cylinder can show up when measuring another. For the newbie this can throw up false alarms based. Experimenting with ultrasonic probe position/direction and cross checking against expected events time stamps on other cylinders seems to be the way to adjust for this. We've and awaiting a full report from Dynalco on the two engines we surveyed and will make a decision thereafter.

We have also been exploring a number of software model based approaches to measuring diesel condition during operation including MACSEA's Dexter software system and Matrikon's Process Monitor.

MACSEA have a number of great documents on work they have done with diesels - from what I can see I've yet to see anyine do more on diesels than them - and Matrikon in a wide arena.

We've yet to decide on a pilot with either party - some of the deciding factors will be cost, scalability, software supportability and ease of implementation/use/revision.

We'll also be starting our RCM pilot on one of our baseload engines this week. I'll keep folks posted as to how we do.

Dear Sirs:

Vendor Warning!

Effective in January 2007 we merged my company, MAARS, Inc. with Windrock, Inc.

I have recently been through the Windrock training, becoming familiar with the data collectors and online systems. I'm very impressed with the systems.

If you have not looked at Windrock for reciprocating equipment, I suggest you take the time to do so.

Best regards,

Did Windrock make use of any MAARS technology?

A merger of equals??

We do use Windrock, but I didn't know about MAARS becoming part of it.

Bill

I've been considering Windrock and Dynalco's portable instrument.

Which one is better?

Any case studies or white papers?
