The website link that used to take us to the forum now takes you here>>>
http://www.entekesafe.com/cgi-bin/MSG.html which is no longer a forum but instead a link to a knowledge-base or an email link to tech support. I couldn't find a reference to the forum anywhere on the site. The link you have Mike, still works-Itried it, but I don't see it shown publicly on their site anymore.

Over the last few years as an Entek user, I have been less than impressed with Entek's most recent owner.

I tried it from the home page and got the same results as you guys. The link I had was in my favorities. They erased a thread that was complaining about no Entek people answering the questions on the board. I thought they should have commented instead of just erasing it.... Maybe this is their answer to having someone read the board??

It is too bad what has happened with this situation but it is not totally Rockwell's fault (some but not all). It does beg the question however, 'why did Rockwell buy Entek-IRD? To keep up with the Jones?'

Shorty after Entek-IRD was acquired by Rockwell, the Rockwell folks sought guidance from the Entek Sales Management Team to ensure Rockwell did not inadvertantly implement policies or procedures as part of the integration process that would be detrimental to the success of their new acquisition.

Unfortunately, Entek Sales Management was extremely weak (and still is from what I understand)from an industry knowledge standpoint and were too busy saying yes to everything suggested by the Rockwell folks so as to either remain in good graces or because they just didn't know any better!

Clearly, Emerson did a much better job than did Rockwell in transitioning their acqusition of CSI. At least CSI answers their telephones.

Mike, your link doesn't work for me. I used to visit the Entek board occasionally but there wasn't much going on there. I believe what we have here (Reliability Board) is much better. One thing that happened recently on the Entek board was that someone had started posting some spam and porn links. Maybe the folks at Rockwell decided it wasn't worth their time to chase it.

Not too long back, I had a conversation with an Entek rep., who was pretty honest with me. It appears that condition monitoring, using portable analyzers, is a little passe' to the corporation. Apparently, they believe the big money is to be made in permanent systems, as well as selling a complete package to a company.

I believe the big 3 now want to sell you the motor, tell you how to install it, sell you a bunch of monitors, and analyze your data for you.

I believe they are mistaken in their business plan.

Any comments...?

I believe you are right Stan. I/we am/are the source for their existence. I know in this plant I am ultimately responsible for creating and maintaining a predictive maintenance program so don't f#$k with me. There are other players out there that would love to jump right in.

The board was done away with because, as someone up above stated, they wee getting spammed, and no one wanted to put the time in as a site admin. The guy who was more or less watching it, moved up to software guru. So they took it down.
As far as the on line stuff goes, what has been said is basically correct. However, Rockwell apparnetly has no intention at this time of doing away with the group, as a new data collector is due out end of this month. It will be an Enpac 2500. At release, it will be basically the same as the 1200. Dual channel, (much faster collection and processing), have 25 Meg internal memory, and a few other things. By January '06, they are supposed to have all of Datapac1500 functionality in this puppy. Supposedly costs less than 1500. Will have black case to set it apart from previous enpacs. I think they (pld enpacs) will go away, since they have not been accepted very well due to their slowness and few software issues.

EntekIRD is still alive, and appear to be more or less on their own. Rockwell is taking all the money from them it can, I'm sure, but they have been more or less left to either make it or die on their own as a vibration company (so far they are still making it). Rockwell is interested in promoting the software and on- line instruments, but EntekIRD (I have to stick the IRD on there, can't help myself) is not disappearing.
