What are the best Spike energy filters to use for pumps, gearboxes, etc. at different speeds? Is there a formula I could use including gearmesh 1x etc.? I understand there are a limmited number of filters availible. I just need to know which ones i should use.
Thank You, John Elliot |

John,
I was taught that with PeakVue you should use the filter that is >= the fmax and have used the same rule for Spike Energy. You might get better responses on the Vibration/alignment/balancing forum. Danny |

While monitoring a white metal bearing,I will suggest you to set the min freq around 3000 to 3300 hz(or the closest available in the instrument or software) and the maximum freq equal to the max available in the instrument and/or software(not more than 20kH).But it may take time to collect data.If this is a main problem for you to reduce the time of data collection then go for the second max available and so on.
Accordingly you may change the raferance value and/or base line. |

All you need about gSE you'll find in this paper.
You should use high pass filter to eliminate all low-frequency vibration signals. For instance, for the fan with BPF=22.5KCPM (1500RPM, 15 blades) 500Hz gSE filter will be enough. MingXu_gSE_Paper.pdf (424 Kb, 47 downloads) |
