I have someone looking for a statistic on the percent of gearbox failures (something you have to shut down for) caused by seals. Does anyone happen to know a figure or a place I can find out?
I could also use a good photo showing a failed or severely leaking seal? Terry O This message has been edited. Last edited by: Terrence O'Hanlon, |

We have several gear reducers that have oil seals leaking, but I can't think of any unit we lost that can be blamed soley on seal failure. We monitor the oil levels and schedule installing a split seal where feasible or change the unit out.

Is a split seal better in preventing seal failure?
