I have noticed some of my posting is going in after the first post, some at the end of the post (this is the way the old board worked) and some in the middle of the list. When looking at the post times I see it is happening to others. It makes following a thread hard but I haven't figured out what I'm doing to get the posts all over the list. Has any of you other "analyst"

Mike,
All of my posts have gone in at the end of the thread... I have looked at a bunch of threads and not found any with the time/date stamp out of order. The message board server seems to use standard Greenwich Mean Time to stamp the postings. Is the time stamp of the postings out of order on the ones you have seen? ed |

Mike
Thanks for bringing that up. I chose to be notified when a new post/reply comes up and have noticed that sometimes when I open the "new" It appears as though nothin had been added. Thought I or my PC was going bonkers. I have to agree that it will create havoc for anyone trying to follow a certain topic. Roy Gariepy Maintenance Tech Cross Generating Station Cross, SC |

Mike, I've noticed the same thing. So, that means one of three things.
1. There's a discontinuity in the space time continueum. 2. There really is an inconsistency in the way posts appear. 3. I'm not the only one who's lost my mind. |

I've posted a good bit last night and tonight (out of town), and all was well until just now. My reply was just entered as the 2nd reply in a lengthy thread. Something is not right...... Terrence???

I always thought if you hit the reply button with the blue arrow, your post went to the end. I just tried that in another thread and it ended up at the top. And I too used to get the cryptic email replies. And the other day it took about 20 minutes for a reply to post. Hmmm.

I prefer "Last Post In Appears Second" after the original/first post and followed by other posts in chronological order. TQ

Josh, is there an "options" for how the replies are ordered? I can't find one anywhere.

I tried clicking "reply with quote on the post after which my reply to appear. Does it work? |
||||
|
It didn't work coz last post appears bottom most in chronological order.

I think I have cracked the code. The ordering of the posts depends on which forum you are in.
"Post about Improving Reliability Forum" - newest post comes right after original post. (i.e. reverse chronological order except for the original post, i.e. josh' preference). Examples: http://maintenanceforums.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/209103451/m/2681015921 http://maintenanceforums.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/209103451/m/5591046131 All the other forums I use go in simple chronological order. Those forums are: Posts About Technologies and Techniques for Condition Monitoring Posts About Lubrication and Oil Analysis Posts About vibration/alignment/balance Posts About vibration/alignment/balance My preference is simple chronological order (following the K.I.S.S. principle). Regardless of which preference ultimately is selected, the forums should all be set the same. |

Is it possible to sort in ascending or descending chronological order to suit the user's own preference? TQ

I just managed to add URL link like you guys by RH click Email this to a friend to go to Mcirosoft Outlet Express & then copy the http link to paste on the other forum eg below. Is this the quickest way to do it?

Does this software have hyperlink or cross reference functionality among the various posts? |
||||
|
The back icon is greyed out because a new window opens when you click on a link. Close the window when you're done.
Instead of the email routine, just cut and paste the address you see in the address bar--it's the same one. Patrick |
