I was just wondering if anyone had a PdM/PPM template on what condition monitoring should be performed on equipment such as pumps, motors, & Gear boxes that are a recommended minimum for a good program.
Thanks
Alan

Haven't seen any guide but this could be a reason why enginers are employed eg to come up with this kind of things.

For gearboxes you can get away with a good oil analysis where you check:
1. viscosity
2. water %
3. major metals ppm
4. ISO cleanless level

Now some people use it to know when to change the oil but you can also conclude the condition of the gearbox.

As for motors, you can use vibration analysis and the amps drawn as a CBM. as a PM you shoud check your brushes.

For pumps, i haven't work that much with pumps but can you use the amount of water pumped as an indicator of how good the pump is running? If anything wears out in the pump you would start to get a small flow rate and maybe it will be contaminated with metals if a component such as a bearing started to wear out.

By the way what is PPM? you wrote PdM/PPM
