Hi gents
I just joined a company witch have Titan sola turbine driving LP and HP compressor. And as condition monitoring tech its my first time to know PLC (Program Logic Controller) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) These two system has been provided by Solar but not yet install. My question is: How i can collect a vibration data by using any bortable data collector like Microlog. I never seen this PLC system. And as per Solar Vendor he said there is no buffer out put or BNC to collect the data. What i will get is direct amplitute from HMI computure system with trend mybe. Any idea about this issue, i use to collect data from 3500 benthly vibration monitoring system. Thanks MB |

After searching manuals i found that BN1701 rack will be install. Any one can share about this rack, i never seen it before only 3300 and 3500. thanks MB |

I searched on "Bently Nevada 1701" and found several hits including:

I have the 1701 system on a couple of relatively new Solar installations (5 bearing GT, gearbox and two compressor barrels) – five 1701 monitors per train. I would guess that your installation is similar. Each 1701 racks contains BNC buffered outputs arranged in the following sequence:
1A 2A 2B 3A 3C 4A 4B 5A 5B Some of the racks are mounted upside down, so 5B is the top socket. In general, socket 1A is assigned to a keyphasor signal and the other 4 pairs are assigned to radial or thrust probes. The 1701 monitors were not labelled at the factory and I have had to examine wiring tags and P+IDs to figure out which sockets contain which signals. The racks are distributed around the inside of the control system cabinet, behind brass coloured cages: these cages are fixed in place using knurled screws - for routine monitoring purposes, I have had these cages removed and thrown away. To make things easier, you might want to consider running extension BNC cables from inside the cabinet to a patch panel located outside the panel |

Your information was really neeful. But one thing i coudnt get it when u said: running extension BNC cables from inside the cabinet to a patch panel located outside the panel (Patch panel) is the place to collect the data or what?? thanks again MB |

I coudl probably have worded that last bit a little better.
Opening up a control cabinet to obtain vibration readings often causes a little anxiety amongst operations personnel. To overcome this, I have sometimes fitted panel mounted BNC sockets (male/male)to the outer wall of a cabinet and run BNC cables from the 1701 sockets to the inside socket of the panel mounted BNC plugs - this allows access to the vibration signals from outside the cabinet |

In case somenody bangs the control panel door upon closing, will the vibration readings be affected and tripped the compressors?
